Dance Days

Dance Days are designed to give students a taste of our professional training course and guidance on how to access full-time vocational training with Central School of Ballet. The one day events are held annually in locations around the UK for young dancers aged 11-16 years who are hoping to pursue full-time vocational training in a Higher Education setting.

Dance Days applications are now open.

What are Dance Days?

Dance Days take place alongside some of Central’s undergraduate in-person auditions that happen across the UK. They are therefore a fantastic way to prepare for your undergraduate audition, learn more about the audition process and also meet some of Central’s tutors. If you are auditioning in Glasgow, Manchester or Truro, we highly recommend looking at attending the corresponding Dance Day to prepare yourself for your audition and become familiar with Central’s tutors and audition process.

Dance Days include classes in ballet and contemporary led by Central School of Ballet’s undergraduate tutors, designed to emulate Central’s audition process. The ballet class includes pointe work or coaching and is accompanied by a live pianist.

Dance Days are suitable for all students aged 11-16, with aspirations to pursue full-time training. Audition technique is a vital skill in the performance industry and Dance Days can therefore prepare dancers not only for course auditions, but also for castings, job opportunities and short courses.

To book your place on a Dance Day, select your preferred date and location below and fill in the corresponding application form.

What do current students say about Dance Days?

“I attended the Central Dance Day prior to my audition last year in Glasgow. The Dance Day was extremely beneficial and provided me with a real insight into the training the school offers and allowed me to take multiple dance classes with Central staff members from the degree course. One of the most valuable parts of the Dance Day was the Q&A session where we were given the chance to ask any questions and provided a great opportunity to find out exactly what Central has to offer.

I would absolutely recommend the Dance Day to someone who is thinking of auditioning for Central as I believe it was a fantastic way to prepare for the foundation degree audition. By the end of the day, I left knowing lots of new information about the degree course and it offered me the chance to become familiar with Central tutors which made me feel more at ease going into my audition.”

“My favourite thing about the Dance Day was the fact that it allowed me to get to know the teaching style of the school, and I realised that the teachers were fun, encouraging and supportive, and they gave helpful corrections and advice that you could use not just for progressing your technique, but also tips and advice that I could use in my audition. The Dance Day also gave me an idea of how the audition day would go, which I found made me feel more prepared and relaxed for the day of my audition. I would recommend a Dance Day to someone about to audition as it prepares you nicely for your audition, and the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the day allows you to get to know the school a lot better too. I also appreciated the fact that I didn’t need to travel to London in order to experience something that is similar to an open day, a Dance Day is something that can be accessed across the country, and I could still get to know information about Central before my audition.”

“I attended the Dance Day in Glasgow before my preliminary audition for Central. I had so much fun getting a taster of the classes offered at Central and the tutors who teach them; it really solidified my love for the school and made the decision to study here very easy. It put me at ease and helped me relax the next day in the audition as I had already got to meet and be taught by the staff and see how friendly everyone was. I would definitely recommend the Dance Day to anyone auditioning, as it not only helped me perform better in my audition, but was also just lots of fun and a great way to get to know the school better.”
