AkomaAsa Arts

“I am thrilled to mark one year of AkomaAsa Arts partnership with the Central School of Ballet. This collaboration spotlights both organisation’s commitment to Widening Participation and highlights the impactful work we have achieved together. This partnership has made key contributions towards tackling social, creative, and cultural barriers.

The Central School of Ballet partnership has been remarkable in taking strategic action for change. Cross-fertilisation within our partnership has been pivotal in working towards addressing social, creative, and cultural barriers. Having a partner that truly listens has fostered significant trust and understanding supporting meaningful contributions.

Maxine Bunting-Thomas, Head of Widening Participation and Access at Central School of Ballet, has been strategically innovative in maintaining the quality of our partnership. Her efforts have been crucial in preserving our identities, building strong professional relationships, and ensuring effective communication and processes.

This collaboration has created genuine opportunities for children and young people of African heritage to engage meaningfully with ballet. It has shared new skills, perceptions, and resources, opening up a world of possibilities for our students. We are immensely grateful for this partnership and look forward to continuing our work together.”
