Auditions Open for Central’s Undergraduate Courses

1 October 2024

Applications are now open for Central School of Ballet’s vocational degree courses in Professional Dance & Performance. Aspiring dancers hoping to train at Central are invited to submit their application online. They will then attend either an in-person audition or submit a video audition. This year, auditions are taking place in eight locations; London, Glasgow, Manchester, Cornwall, Singapore, South Korea, Osaka and Tokyo.

Central’s full-time courses are designed for students aiming for a professional career in the dance industry. New students usually commence their training with the two-year Foundation Degree and, on successful completion, can progress to the one-year BA (Hons) top-up course. Both courses specialise in classical ballet, supplemented with other techniques, and are highly vocational with intensive contact with expert tutors.

Following the successful introduction of the Assisted Application Scheme in 2023, Central is delighted to offer the scheme once again this year. All UK applicants are encouraged to check their eligibility before applying to Central. The Assisted Application Scheme is designed to support talented students in applying to our higher education courses, to ensure that barriers do not prevent them from performing at their best or from accessing Central’s application process.

For prospective applicants, there are many ways to get to know Central ahead of the preliminary auditions. In-person Open Days have been announced at The Countess of Wessex Studios and Online Q&A sessions are available for those applying with a video audition. Open days are a fantastic opportunity to meet staff and current students, to ask questions and see Central’s facilities. Attendees can also expect to receive advice and guidance on the application and audition process.

A series of Dance Days have also been announced, and applications are now open for all 11-16 year olds interested in full-time vocational training. These will take place in Glasgow, Manchester and Truro, alongside the pre-liminary auditions. Dance Days are a fantastic opportunity to get to know Central’s tutors ahead of the auditions which take place on the subsequent day. They provide insight into full-time training, the experience of auditioning and give students a chance to ask questions and learn more about Central School of Ballet’s degree courses.

Central School of Ballet is committed to ensuring that the audition process is a positive experience for all applicants. We are excited to see the breadth of talent throughout this audition period, and we encourage applicants to seek the support that is on offer to them.
